Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph is urging local homeowners to take advantage of the Tax Collector’s Early Payment Discount Program. The deadline to pay tax bills is March 31, but homeowners that pay in November will receive a 4% discount on their taxes. Discounts for early payment are also available for payments received in December (3%), January (2%) and February (1%).
For the average Orange County homeowner with an assessed home value of $182,000, the 4% November discount will mean $120 in savings. Randolph said those savings, which equal about a week’s worth of groceries or four tanks of gas, are particularly important for working families and seniors.
“For working families and seniors on a fixed income, every dollar counts when it comes to planning the family budget,” Tax Collector Scott Randolph said. “That’s why I encourage everyone who can to take advantage of our early payment discount program and save some money during the holiday season.”
The easiest way to pay taxes is online at octaxcol.com. Randolph’s office is waiving the $2.00 eCheck charge for online eCheck payments.
