Electronic Temporary Registration |
|
The Electronic Temporary Registration (ETR) program will become mandatory for all Florida Dealers on July 1, 2008. This system allows vendors who have been approved by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to report the issuance temporary license plates through a print-on-demand process. The program promotes roadside safety by making temporary tag registration information available to law enforcement. Toll and parking authorities will also benefit from the program.
Dealers will be required to electronically submit customer |

and vehicle information to the Department via an authorized vendor. The services and cost associated with the program vary depending on the vendor selected for the ETR service.
The program standards require the ETR vendors update the Department’s database within 24 hours and no more than 2 temporary license plates will be allowed for the same vehicle.
The 2005 Legislative session created the ETR program. It was amended in the 2007 session and changes may occur in the current 2008 session. |
